This is the information I couldn’t beg, borrow or steal from other photographers. I tried to find it on forums, online and by talking to others. Ultimately, I ended up attending a number of workshops and found a few tricks here, a few words of wisdom there. Then I bought a projector and some software and rowed my own ship to shore.
This merit badge is the result of two years’ experience with projecting and four years’ worth of completing sales sessions in person.
This is not a very technical guide. Each of the products I’ve listed comes with a user’s manual. Read the manual. It knows better than I do how to complete hi-res module production. Promise.
This is not a very helpful book. It’s a modern-day merit badge. You know, like the merit badges you earned in scouting programs as a kid. If you wanted to learn about something, you had to consult the handbook, gather the necessary materials, and get your hands dirty. Reading about model rockets is not the same as constructing and launching model rockets. Same badge principles apply here…

The Projection & Sales Merit Badge contains ten tasks for you to complete. You’ll determine whether projection is right for you, which software you need (and which software you don’t), prepare for a client ordering session, practice a few times, and maximize the sale with a real live paying customer. You’ll also have my tips for prepping, presenting, and selling images. The software I rely upon, the projector model I use, and the ways I handle clients during the presentation and process are presented.
If you’re at all curious about making the switch from online image proofing to personal ordering appointments, complete with projection, buy and complete the merit badge. If you’d measure a product’s value by its page count, don’t buy the merit badge. I didn’t want to waste a moment of your time, so it’s as short as I could possibly make it.
